Strategic Plan Timeline

Strategic Plan Core Tenets

As a collective framework for campus engagement, strategic action, assessment, and accountability that will shape the future of our campus, the Strategic Plan for Inclusive Excellence identifies core tenets central to achieving our vision for inclusive excellence. These core tenets are: Access and Success, Climate, and Accountability.

Access and Success: Attract, retain, and support a diverse faculty, staff, and student body with the goal of reflecting California demographics and achieving institutional excellence at UC San Diego.

Climate: Create and foster a positive and welcoming climate where we value, include, and support all at UC San Diego.

Accountability: Ensure institutional accountability through processes and structures that strengthen UC San Diego's  clear and continuous commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Our Process

Inclusion is intentional and a diversity of voices is critical to our success at UC San Diego. That is why we met regularly with campus community members to get your input on shaping the future of diversity and inclusion at UC San Diego through the Strategic Plan for Inclusive Excellence.

Your ideas are important, and we are here to listen.

Ideawave Campaign 2018

You Have the Power to Transform

Transformation takes collective genius. Imagine what we can achieve when we unite our efforts to create a community with heart.

We need your diverse perspectives and talents as we begin to shape the future of UC San Diego. Your input will serve as the foundation for the Strategic Plan for Inclusive Excellence, led by the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Together with feedback already received, the plan will map the pathway to a more inclusive university.

Our vision is to create a learning and working environment where all feel welcomed and valued, which in turn leads to excellence in the classroom and workplace. We believe all members of our campus community deserve respect and equal opportunity to thrive. And throughout this process, we will be transparent and proactive in inspiring campus wide engagement.

Advocates & Influencers are campus leaders in equity, diversity and inclusion. They are staff, students, and faculty who are already engaged in and working on climate initiatives across campus, including diversity and inclusion-specific initiatives. Advocates and Influencers have been campus ambassadors supporting our Communication and outreach efforts to get the word out about the Strategic Plan so that everyone can get involved! We want as many community members to participate in the process as possible and our Advocates & Influencers are a big part of that. During the forum, participants identified what would exemplify Inclusive Excellence at UC San Diego and then committed to one thing they could do to bring that to life on our campus. What’s your one thing?
