For students

UC San Diego Mediation Services: Mediation is a process in which two or more individuals who are part of the UC San Diego community voluntarily come together with a neutral third-party to resolve a conflict or dispute, or to reach an understanding or agreement.  They can be reached through this link.  

 

The Office of the Ombuds provides a confidential, safe space for students, staff, and faculty to talk about concerns and problem-solve issues arising from interpersonal and group conflict. They can be reached through this link. 

 

The UC San Diego Restorative Justice Program is dedicated to building community, addressing conflict, restoring individual, group and structural relationships, teaching Restorative Practice, and establishing a collective network of practitioners. For more information, visit this page. 

For academics

The UC San Diego Faculty Peer Mediation Program provides an alternative dispute resolution process for faculty at UC San Diego. The goal of the Program is to empower faculty to resolve interpersonal disagreements with civility and respect, and to support a healthy and collegial workplace environment. The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is a confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which helps campus* faculty and staff, all Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars, UC San Diego emeriti and retirees resolve concerns affecting personal well-being and/or job performance.  They can be reached through this link.  

 

LEAD Fellows are campus champions who engage and lead crucial conversations around improving organizational learning and campus climate. LEAD Fellows are trained to support open dialogue and conversation during moments of crisis and calm, allowing for sustained and dynamic cultural shifts within our university over time. For staff

Conflict management is a function of campus Human Resources, and may include referrals to Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and/or the Ombuds Office.  For more information reach out to your local Human Resources contact.  If you do not know your contact, reach out to your supervisor.

Other resources

The UC San Diego Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD) works to resolve complaints of unlawful discrimination and unlawful harassment through formal investigation or alternative resolution. OPHD is unlawful discrimination and unlawful harassment not the first option to try and resolve a conflict, but a place to report unlawful discrimination and unlawful harassment. The Center for Student Accountability, Growth, and Education (SAGE) provides leadership for the student conduct process through its central coordinating, training, and advising role. They can be reached through this link.
